Print ModePreview: not drawnWhat the printer does with a label once it is printed: tear it off, peel it, cut it, or hand it to an applicator.

How it works
^MM tells the printer where the label should end up. Tear-off advances it to the tear bar; peel-off separates it from the liner and holds it until it is taken; cutter cuts it; applicator hands it to a machine that puts it on a box.
The mode decides how far the media moves between labels, so it changes the physical result even when the printed image is identical. A format that prints correctly but stops in the wrong place is usually in the wrong print mode rather than mis-designed.
Peel-off and applicator modes need the hardware to match — asking for peel-off on a printer with no peeler leaves the printer waiting for a label to be taken that nothing is holding.

How the preview on this site handles it
Not drawn. Print mode describes what happens to the media after the image is on it — where it stops, whether it is cut, whether a peeler holds it — none of which a preview has. The label itself previews normally.
Common mistakes
- Asking for hardware that is not there. Peel-off and cutter modes need a peeler or a cutter installed.
- Leaving the printer in cutter mode. It stays there for every later format until something changes it.
- Blaming the format for a label that stops short. The tear-off position is a print-mode question, not a ^LL one.
